Street Style: Black Black White Punk Black Chic
First of all, hair. I want hair that white, with no bleaching. I've been craving a new change. Maybe white tips? This lady has style like woah. I wear black a lot (especially in NY) as do a lot of people. But she is wearing black on black on black with interesting textures, and it contrasts with her hair so well. Also, her silver earrings (and black stud) further pull your eye to the contrast. ALSO CLAW RING! This girl is catwoman disguised by dressing as a very stylish tourist maybe? That claw ring is tough. Lisbeth Salander could use one of those....

Street Style: 90's meets Edward Gorey.
This fabulous duo let me stop and photograph them. They were quite lovely. I love the wine soaked lipstick, and the glasses they both are sporting. I also really like the layering and colors. I felt they needed to be framed in this way. Do you agree?
90s grunge + NIN + thrifty flair + Edward Gorey = these two
I love the layering, the florals on her bag, and that mysterious muscle-y shirt,

Street Style Trend Alert: When CAPES attack!
Le Cape! C'est Magnifique!
I have noticed and been swept up in an affinity for capes this fall. So ladylike. Here are some of the latest cape street style shots I captured of capes in action.
(More to come!)
This look somehow hits all the perfect notes of masculine and feminine.
What i love about both of these shots is the color and texture. The student on the left (she was late for class and still let me snap a shot) pairs a neutral with a blampop of a primary blue! The person on the right is enveloped with deep cozy burgundy (a current color obsession of mine) and black, which set off her hair and accessories.
I love this woman's smile, and her vintage Bakelite Jewelry!
Oh and a Cape for Me!
I recently purchased this beautiful cape from Etsy seller pixie007 (who was lovely by the way) and I couldn't be more happy! It fits me like a dream, and it is 1960's coral pink wool with a sherbert lining. So so perfect and different than what is in the stores. Outfit Photos coming soon promise!

I've been experimenting with drawing, painting, etc. Here is my hand holding a book holding my hand holding a book.
This wonderful person let me take their photo. I love this shot. They just look so open, connected. Beautiful.
The layering, dreads, and accessories, golds and wine tones are perfection.

Street Style: Fierce Color
I love it when I see someone who is clearly marching to beat of their own drum and it suits them perfectly. This beautiful girl's ensemble was stunning. She is 18 years old, and her name is Alaima. She said she bought her jacket for a dollar when I told her I liked it. Thrifting skilllllls! I love the proportions, her hair, the colors (burgundy and mint!). Most of all, she looks like no one else; and she looks so comfortable, cozy, and at home in her skin.
Thank you Alaima!!!
I love the cut of these pale green paper bag waisted pants. And the hint of her funky purse.
Cozy, gorgeous, fierce

Street Style: Beginnings
So I am going to be adding some Street Style posts to this little slice of internet pie. I've been traipsing (yes, traipsing) around NY stopping people on the street and asking to take their picture. I was nervous at first, but I am realizing that it is such a lovely way to interact with strangers.
In NY, people are so close and crowded together. New Yorkers have a hardness, an armor. But when a stranger comes up to you and says "Hey, you look great today!", people light up and talk to you.
Oh and I've become a fan of lurking on street corners, surreptitiously taking photos of footwear.
I am also going to try to do outfit posts of what I'm wearing, have patience while I get the hang of taking pics of myself with no tripod. Here are some shots to start...enjoy!

Her posture, the colors and proportions. Et Chanel? Mondieux.
That is a perfect hat. Timeless.
