NY Street Style: Lady turns it OUT.

This lovely lady posed for me on a cold day in New York City. Everything about her outfit is incredible. She collects vintage Bakelite, and she MADE her own fur wrap/scarf. I don't even have any idea how one goes about making a fur stole, but apparently this lovely New Yorker is a fashion genius. Her dress and cardigan are from the 1950's, and they added cozy layers while creating an hourglass silhouette. She had the perfect combination of vintage glamor and modern trends.  I loved her sky high chunky clog platforms, her leopard print phone case, her incredible bright red hair, and her general high fashion fierce femme demeanor. We talked about our shared love of fashion and vintage finds, and she let me document her whole situation, down to her bright blue nails
Internet, I have a new style icon.

NY Street Style: Victor, Greenich Village. Spring Layers.

This very cool dude named Victor let me take his photo today. I love how he took basics (army jacket, white thermal, black hat, black leather boots) and mixed them all together in stylish layers.

I have a feeling that this guy never looks boring.

I like the rolled cuffs, and the thermal tied around his waist.  I love his way-cool felt hat and tortiseshell round glasses too. There is something vaguely retro about this look...a bit 60's maybe? Werq!!!

NY Street Style: Spring Chiffon. Cobalt Blue. Stripes. Fiercenezz. Queer Street Style.

This amazing fellow made all of the jewelery he is wearing! Also, he is only 21 years old. He is simply ah-gayze-ing. I love the colors and unique proportions. Not everyone can rock a chiffon navy/cobalt blue oversize stripped shirt. I really like the pendants he is wearing, especially the fan pieces. Very Karl.

NY Street Style: Spring Style. Cozy, Cute Suede Shorts!

Not everyone can rock an outfit like this. Love the suede shorts. She was the first person I took a street style photo of. She and her friends were just lovely.

Amazing hair, cozy whites. Love her glasses and earrings and makeup...and friendly smile!

And stylish friends too. Love the hair and eyebrows on the left hand side.

NY Street Style: Abby Road meets amazing hair. Rock.

The head to toe look never gets old in NYC. Also....I am not normally the biggest fan of shreded T's and jean shirts, but she looks amazingggah! Her whole outfit works so well. Those leggings??? Finally her hair is really what kills me. I wanna learn how to tie a scarf like that. ROCK ON!

Street Style: New York Black and Neon.

New York Black, with hints of Nautical, and a BIG splash of neon and Color with a Faaaahhhbulous Neon Scarf. I'm totally gonna look in Thrift Stores for something similar.
Maybe a bunch of different bright silk scarves tied together could achieve a similar effect?
Possible DIY coming soon....

Street Style: Extra Extra! NY Girl tells the T! Newspaper, Flavor Flav, Black and White Chic, et plus!

When out on the street in NY I found a petite bubbly young lady with beautiful blond hair,
and her style was a mix of newspapers, flavor flav, madonna, 40s, 90's, 80's, with modern touches.
Sounds like it could be busted mais ouais?
But this little lady WORKED.

She showed me her clock bag, her newsprint dress, and told me about her love of vintage clothes and style. She was only the second person I stopped to ask to take their photo, and she was so sweet about it and excited.
(Oh, and the clock on the bag? It works.)
WORK GIRL!

Street Style and Shoe Love: Big Chunky Platform Shoe Obsession

possible Kirkwood?

Puddle Jumping
In chunky black platforms

During Black Friday I purchased these beauties by Seychelles. I swear to you, they look big and tall but they are CRAZY insane comfortable. I think I was influenced by NY ladies and their insane chunky heels. I am still amazed at the shoe art that women (and men) wear walking around NY in cobbled streets and on rainy days. That is shoe love right there. There is something about the pitch of these Seychelles which makes them comfortable. These babies can last me all day, and when I've had Etsy models wear them for me, they all say how comfy they are. Shoe Love.

Street Style: New York Vintage Coat Spy Girl

I encountered this lovely lady and her friend in Washington Square Park, on a fall day a few months ago.

I love the unexpected color combinations. (cobalt blue + beige + reds + brown!) The contrast stitching on her wool coat is stunning, and I love her worn-in brown leather boots.

When I told her I liked her trench coat, she said she got it thrifting, and "I feel like a Swedish spy when I wear it. Like a cool spy woman."

I love it when clothes tell you a story, or make you feel like you are in one.

So for all I know, she is a spy (from Sweden)!

Street Style: New York, Sequins, Black Bob, Pops of Color

I love the sequined leather jacket with the cowl neckline on this NY girl. The all black with the pops of bright color and the leather backpack. Just adorable. Also, her nail game is amazing. Matching your nails AND rings to your outfit!? Skills.

Rings! Nails! Color pop!

Street Style: 90's meets Edward Gorey.

This fabulous duo let me stop and photograph them. They were quite lovely. I love the wine soaked lipstick, and the glasses they both are sporting. I also really like the layering and colors. I felt they needed to be framed in this way. Do you agree?

90s grunge + NIN + thrifty flair + Edward Gorey = these two

I love the layering, the florals on her bag, and that mysterious muscle-y shirt,

Street Style Trend Alert: When CAPES attack!

Le Cape! C'est Magnifique!
I have noticed and been swept up in an affinity for capes this fall. So ladylike. Here are some of the latest cape street style shots I captured of capes in action.
(More to come!)
This look somehow hits all the perfect notes of masculine and feminine.

What i love about both of these shots is the color and texture. The student on the left (she was late for class and still let me snap a shot) pairs a neutral with a blampop of a primary blue! The person on the right is enveloped with deep cozy burgundy (a current color obsession of mine) and black, which set off her hair and accessories.
I love this woman's smile, and her vintage Bakelite Jewelry!

Oh and a Cape for Me!

I recently purchased this beautiful cape from Etsy seller pixie007 (who was lovely by the way) and I couldn't be more happy! It fits me like a dream, and it is 1960's coral pink wool with a sherbert lining. So so perfect and different than what is in the stores. Outfit Photos coming soon promise!
