Pre Fall 2012: JASON WU wins and is best.

Obviously, designers have been paying attention to my obsession with burgundy, coral, and teal. So pretty much, I'm in love with the Pre-Fall collections this year.
There is also an abundance of the "very cool artist aunt who lives in a loft space and was photographed by Warhol and only wears giant bracelets" look.
Which, of course, is best.  So I'll be going through my faves...but I am bursting with excitement over...

Jason Wu's Pre-Fall Perfection.
High Waists, Dramatic Lip, Femme Fatale, Feminine Embellishments, Unexpected Colors, all the best rolled into a Jason Wu brain. I think my excitement can't even be contained by just one post. So keep your eyes peeled for more WU!!!
Cape on ANOTHER LEVEL. I so so wanna see it from the back.

I think this dress would look good in any size. Also I love the lines with the shoes. It is sharp and sweet.

Perfectly tailored, incredible colors, detailing. Just put someone a bit bustier in there (ahem) and you have a show stopper. (and also BURGUNDY!!!)

Siren Makeup on the Runway....

Fall 2006 Christian Dior
Fall 2005 Christian Dior

This idea of trying out the crazy dramatic eyebrow is becoming more and more appealing thanks to Mr.Galliano.

Fashion Inspiration: Smokin' Sirens

I found these photos on the incredible Retronaut Blog (be careful with that place, you can loose a lot of time going back in time. I have keep going back to look at these photos. The make up is incredible. Somehow they pull off eyebrows and makeup that is so extreme without looking like on of the ladies in 'Brazil' (film) or as though they are perpetually startled or angry.
They just look smokin', fierce, and Over The Top in the best of ways. I am curious to play around with this look. I may share as long as I don't look like a startled Meerkat.

Outfit Post!

Outfit Deets:
Coat: 1950's Camel Hair, Goodwill in Bedstuy
Dress: Grey Grecian Dress by 213, bought at Mauries in downtown LA (I go with my moms!)
Cardigan: Banana Republic on sale
Socks: Thigh High Black socks from www.sockdreams.com (obsessed)
Necklace: bought at the Brooklyn Flea Market. It is handy for instantly looking like the Monopoly guy if the situation calls for it.
Amazeballs High Heels: I ordered these online from Urban, but sadly I think I am returning them, as they are a bit too unstable for my former dancer old ladyeasily injured self. (I twisted my knee in them)
So so sad.

Street Style Trend Alert: When CAPES attack!

Le Cape! C'est Magnifique!
I have noticed and been swept up in an affinity for capes this fall. So ladylike. Here are some of the latest cape street style shots I captured of capes in action.
(More to come!)
This look somehow hits all the perfect notes of masculine and feminine.

What i love about both of these shots is the color and texture. The student on the left (she was late for class and still let me snap a shot) pairs a neutral with a blampop of a primary blue! The person on the right is enveloped with deep cozy burgundy (a current color obsession of mine) and black, which set off her hair and accessories.
I love this woman's smile, and her vintage Bakelite Jewelry!

Oh and a Cape for Me!

I recently purchased this beautiful cape from Etsy seller pixie007 (who was lovely by the way) and I couldn't be more happy! It fits me like a dream, and it is 1960's coral pink wool with a sherbert lining. So so perfect and different than what is in the stores. Outfit Photos coming soon promise!
