Janelle Monae for Sunday

Janelle Monae is just incredible. She melds genres like she is making a delicious musical omlette, or cake, or some other scrumptious analogy. Her latest album is her second album inspired by the Fritz Lang 1920's film Metropolis. (If you haven't seen it, rent it/netflix it/borrow it from a film nerd right away). Her style and fashion is slick, so slick, she could have stepped out of a 1920's jazz bar with two ladies or gents on her arm. In blacks and whites, and the greatest pompador music has seen in a long time, she will take your breath away. Here is her in a one-take video, performing her song "Cold War".

“The ArchAndroid is very inspiring for me. In terms of writing the music, we wanted the story to be very compelling, but we also wanted to make sure that the journey we’re taking people on makes them feel like they’re watching one big emotion picture.”
